£150 The gift of specialist sensory toys
As well as being a right for every child, play is one of the most important aspects of a child’s development, whatever their level of ability.
Our team support every child and young adult to reach their fullest potential through play and often using sensory toys. It’s especially important for children with complex health needs and life-limiting conditions, as it allows children to express themselves, and helps them emotionally, physically, socially and spiritually.
Sit next to the bubble tube to see the lights change. Feel the vibrations. Hear the bubbling noises. Follow the bubbles with your finger. Drape the plastic fibre optic spray on top of you.
All families using the hospice have access to the charity’s toy and leisure library, which means they can borrow larger pieces of equipment, and specialist sensory toys that they wouldn’t have at home.
